NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - AOL Time Warner said
Monday it was lowering the profit and revenue goals for its America Online
flagship unit because of advertising softness, underlining the division's
ongoing problems.
America Online's (AOL) full-year 2002 ad and commerce revenue are "tracking" to $1.7 billion with another 5 percent downside risk and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to be in a range of $1.7 billion to $1.8 billion, the company said. Shares of AOL Time Warner, which is under investigation by the federal government for possible improper accounting at its America Online unit, fell 38 cents to $12.75, or 3 percent, in trading. AOL Time Warner has taken pains to shore up its troubled online unit. The company forced out its AOL chief Bob Pittman earlier this year. |
